From Dreams to Dark Pages: Where Thriller Ideas Come From

Where do the darkest stories come from?

For some writers, inspiration begins with a newspaper headline, a conversation overheard in passing, or a question that suddenly refuses to go away.

For Blair London, it can begin somewhere even stranger: a dream.

A particularly vivid dream can create an entire world in a matter of minutes. A person you’ve never met can suddenly become a fully developed character. A location you’ve never visited can feel hauntingly familiar. A situation that makes absolutely no sense when you’re awake can feel terrifyingly real while you’re experiencing it.

And sometimes, when you wake up, the story doesn’t disappear.

It stays.

That lingering feeling—the unanswered question, the disturbing image, the character you can’t stop thinking about—can become the first spark of a psychological thriller.
